Bobby Lewis McGriff, 80, of Monticello passed away on November 19, 2014 at the Guesthouse of Monticello.
Mr. McGriff grew up in Star City and graduated from Star City schools. He served in both the Army and Air Force and retired as a foreman from Burns & Rowe Construction. He attended Northside Baptist Church in Monticello.
Before his illness, Mr. McGriff was a member of Wilson-Norton Hunting Club and Junior and Jerry Thornberry Fox Pen. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed watching the Razorbacks play football and his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren, Brook and Lynn.
Mr. McGriff was born on June 16, 1934 at Lincoln County and was the son of the late Clyde and Beatrice Pierce McGriff.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Donetta McGriff.
Survivors include his daughter, Misty McGriff Paschall and her husband Ray of Monticello; his two granddaughters, Lynn Paschall and Brook Paschall of Monticello; his brother, Billy Charles McGriff and wife Marie of Star City; his brother-in-law, Gurvis Lynn Owen and wife Mary of Pine Bluff; his sister-in-law, Wanda Pounds of Terrell, Texas; and his lifetime friend and hunting buddy, Bully Young of Rison.
Funeral Services are will be held November 22 at 10:30 a.m. at Griffin Funeral Chapel in Star City with Bros. Sanders Brooks and Thomas McGriff officiating. Visitation will be on November 22 from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Palmyra Cemetery. Pallbearers are Thomas Mitchell, Michael Woods, Chris Raines, Steve Ashcraft, Scott Ashcraft, Phillip McDaniel and Darrell McDaniel.
