Bobby W. Johnson, 86, of Warren, died on June 19, 2018 at Chapel Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Mr. Johnson was a graduate of Smackover High School and attended Louisiana State University where he played football. He was a graduate of Arkansas A&M (now University of Arkansas at Monticello), a paratrooper for U.S. Army during the Korean War and a retired football coach who coached at Earle, Camden and Warren. He also was a retired owner-operator of Johnson Hardware, a member and deacon of First Baptist Church.
Mr. Johnson was born February 13, 1932, in Warren, and was the son of the late Oscar Plez Johnson and Ouida Quimby Johnson.
On June 13, 1954, Mr. Johnson married Peggy Vestal Johnson at the First Baptist Church in Warren by Rev. Geral Trussell. They were the first couple married in the sanctuary. Peggy preceded him in death on July 5, 2007.
Survivors are a son, Rob Johnson and wife Dana of Warren; a daughter Penney Phifer of Camden; three grandchildren Hunter Wayne Johnson and wife Katie of Little Rock, Brittney Nicole Johnson of El Dorado, and Jamie Taylor Furman of Camden; and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 22 at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Greg Stanley officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery under the direction of Frazer’s Funeral Home of Warren.
