Brenda Kay Newton Branch, 66, of Cornerville (Lincoln County), passed away on January 1, 2019 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff.

She was born on January 17, 1952 to the late Roy Ewell and Joy Mae Weatherford Newton.

She was a member of Overcoming Faith Worship Center in Star City and worked as a legal secretary in Pine Bluff for many years. She was also the owner/operator of Newton Grocery, a gathering place in Cornerville where she enjoyed visiting all the locals; owner/operator of Newton Farms and Roy Newton Logging; secretary for the Cornerville Volunteer Fire Department, secretary for the Cornerville Cemetery and Community Center, and was a member of the Lincoln County Cattlemen’s Association.

Survivors include her husband, Ralph Branch of Cornerville; son, John (Rhonda) Carr, of Cornerville; two brothers, Doug (Becky) Newton of Star City and Rickey (Vicki) Newton of Little Rock; sister, Terri (Greg) Edmunson of Bentonville; two grandchildren, Charlie Carr Gober and Jake (Lacey) Carr; threee great-grandchildren, Carter Gober, Ryleigh Kate Gober and John Scott Carr, all of Cornerville.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 5, at Griffin Funeral Chapel with Bro. Don Borland and Bro. Wayne Jordan officiating. Visitation will be held from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, January 4 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Newton Chapel Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Sam Stephens, Phillip Tucker, Robert Knight, Marty Hughes, Scott Daugherty and Chuck Tucker. Honorary pallbearer is Steve Newton.
