Bruce “Ole Man” King, 74, of Hamburg, died July 23, 2021, at his home.
Mr. King was a truck driver. For several years, he drove a log truck for Mashburn Logging. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Southside Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the Buckrun Hunting Club. He lived his life as a very simplistic man, and the love he had for his family, especially his grandchildren, knew no boundaries. You would never forget meeting Bruce, as his personality was as large as his loving and generous heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William B. “Bill” and Geneva Norrell King; a brother, Billy Wayne King; six sisters, Barbara Woods, Susan Savage, Peggy Woods, Nancy Gail Barnett, Mary Smith and Vicki King.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Darlene Vail King; his daughter, Lori King McDonald and husband, Michael, all of Hamburg; two sons, Anthony “Tony” King of Long Prairie, Minnesota and William Cody King of Hamburg; a brother, Reggie King of Fountain Hill; two sisters, Dixie Fairchild of Hamburg and Patty Griffith of Fountain Hill; eight grandchildren, Nathan King, Michael McDonald, Bradley McDonald, Marianna King, Harmony King, Symphony King, Melody King and Meagan King; five great-grandchildren, Gemma, Hagen, Sophie, Kaden and Geneva and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 27, at the Southside Baptist Church with Bro. David Newberry officiating. Burial will be at the Carlock Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, July 26, Monday at the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home in Hamburg.
Pallbearers are Cody King, Tony King, Clint Mashburn, James Mashburn, Brian Adams and Johnny Pierce. Honorary pallbearers are Ryan Austin, Jamie Smith, Lawrence Booker, Jim Skender, and Thomas Martin.
