LCPL Calvin Eugene Nichols, 67, of Warren, died on July, 19 2015 at the Pine Hill Nursing Home in Camden.

Mr. Nichols was a member of Harmony Freewill Baptist Church and a member of the local VFW in Warren.
He joined the United States Marines on March 28, 1968 and went to serve in the Vietnam War where he was severely wounded. He received the Purple Heart Medal, the Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and the National Defense Medal.

Mr. Nichols enjoyed his annual trips to Branson, Missouri and loved people.

He was born on September 5, 1947 at Wilmar and was the son of the late George “Cal” Nichols and Maude Johnson Nichols.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jr. Nichols; sisters, Rosie Marie Williams and Betty Hickman; and a special friend Jerry Lee Hamilton.

He is survived by two sisters, Hazel Bond and husband Bobby of Warren, and Dottie Jackson of Des Moines, Iowa; and two brothers, Charles Nichols and wife Linda of Warren and Sambo Nichols of Warren.

Funeral services will be held on July 22 at 10 a.m. at Frazer’s Funeral Home in Warren. Burial with Military Honors will be held at Union Cemetery at Rye.

Visitation is July 21 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Frazer’s Funeral Home.
