Carrie Louise Hendrickson Murphy, 88, of Little Rock, formerly of Gould, passed away on January 3, 2018.

She was born December 22, 1929, at Carden Bottoms in Yell County.

The daughter of the late, Herbert Hendrickson and Helen Keeter Hendrickson. Her parents, husband J.W. and two sons, Mike and Rick Murphy and grandson Ryan Murphy all preceded her in death.

Mrs. Murphy was a longtime resident of Gould where she and her late husband, J.W. Murphy were owners of Murphy’s Grocery Store for 42 years until their retirement in 1993.

She was a long-time member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a woman who had a deep and abiding faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Carrie Lou loved the Lord, her family and her coffee. She loved deeply, was forever loyal and kind. Her beautiful blue eyes sparked when she smiled and laughed, which was often. She loved all people especially her family and dear friends. She was very proud of her four sons, grandchildren and great –grandchildren. She prided herself on being the matriarch of the Murphy family. She had a flair for style and everything beautiful. Carrie Lou was a Southern Belle with just the right mix of sass and sweetness.

Survivors are two sons, Randy Murphy of Little Rock and Mark (Sonya) Murphy of Little Rock; daughter in law, Kathy Murphy of West Memphis and nine grandchildren, Melinda Smith (Greg) of Fayetteville, Kyle Murphy (Alyssa) of Naples, Florida, Patrick Murphy of Lantana, Florida, Mollie Thompson (Chad) of Monticello, Meagan Murphy of Little Rock, Celia McGilvray (Drew) Little Rock, Michaela Murphy of Raleigh, North Carolina, Mallory Blue (Adam) of Leawood, Kansas, Steven Murphy of Houston, Texas; and five great-grandchildren Barrett Blue, Murphy Ann McGilvray, Ryan Thompson, Dylan Thompson, Emily Ann Thompson.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 6, at 10 a.m. at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Gould, followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. at the church. Rev. Jim Smith and Rev. Dubs Byers will officiate. Burial will be at the Dark Corner Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Kyle Murphy, Patrick Murphy, Steven Murphy, Greg Smith, Adam Blue, Drew McGilvray, Andy Blackwell, Chad Thompson and Scottie Grimes.
