Catherine “Gail” Sharp Gortney, 62, of Crossett, passed away July 22, 2014 at Pinewood Health and Rehabilitation Center of Crossett.
She was born June 18, 1952 in Jones, La. and was the daughter of Minne Lee Sharp and the late John “Red” Sharp.
Gail was a homemaker and a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church of Hamburg. She loved fishing, flowers and family, and her best friend and companion was a Yorkie named “Gidget”, whom she adored.
She is preceded in death by her father and her brother-in-law, Mac Jackson. She is survived by her two daughters, Janell Brown and Alicia Harris, both of Crossett; her mother, Minnie Sharp, of Crossett; four sisters, Betty Jackson and Mary Sharp of Crossett, Alice Jo (Jimmy) Ethridge, of Monticello, and Lillian (Ricky) Johnson, of Hamburg; and two brothers, Hank (Pam) Sharp and Lonnie (Robbin) Sharp of Crossett along with her darling granddaughter, Zoey Harris, also of Crossett.
Visitation is July 25 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Medders Funeral Home of Crossett. Funeral services will be held July 26 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Bros. Randy Hill and Danny Merriweather officiating. Burial will be at Crossroads Cemetery.
Pallbearers are be Bobby Travis, Doug Jackson, Ronnie Jones, Ricky Johnson, James Barnes, and Jerry Laing. Honorary Pallbearer will be Mike Ashcraft.
