Charles Ellis Hicks, 83, of Eudora, passed away on June 4, 2019 in Monroe, Louisiana.
He was a mechanic for many years for the Hicks Tractor Company and the WB Loyd Company. He was also the transportation supervisor for Eudora Public Schools for more than 25 years.
Mr. Hicks enjoyed the outdoors and loved to work in his garden. He was a loyal friend who liked helping people and loved growing and sharing his garden vegetables with his family, friends and neighbors. He was a devoted husband and father.
Mr. Hicks was born on February 25, 1936 in McClelland, Arkansas to the late Grover R. Hicks and Velma Stinson Hicks.
Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Betty Lou Hicks and his brothers, Jimmy R. Hicks and Michael R. Hicks.
Survivors include his sons, Allen (Jan) Hicks of Woodinville, Washington, Kenneth Hicks of Hephzibah, Georgia, and Richard Hicks of West Monroe, Louisiana; daughter, Teresa (Frank) Edwards of Lebanon, Tennessee; brothers, Bruce Hicks of Eudora, Thomas Hicks of Dickson, Tennessee and Donnie Hicks of Monticello; sisters, Betty Sue Crippen of Mobile, Alabama and Patsy Whittington of Addis, Louisiana; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and numerous special nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 7 from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Northside Baptist Church in Eudora. Funeral Services will follow at 2 p.m. at the church with Rev. Kenny Culpepper officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
