Charles Kenneth Bowden, 78, of the Prairie Grove community, passed away August 21, 2014 at his home.

Mr. Bowden worked for the Soil Conservation Service, was a pulpwood subcontractor and farmer. He was a member of Ladelle Baptist Church and served in the United States Army National Guard.

Mr. Bowden was born on April 15, 1936 in Drew County and was the son of the late Howard Bowden and Mary Frances Howell Bowden.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Downey Bowden and two brothers-in-law, Rev. Jack Ferguson and Willard Clampit.

Survivors include his wife, Cavie Joiner Bowden of Prairie Grove Community; two daughters, Angie Sowell and husband Tommy of Prairie Grove Community and Amy Bowden and husband Kenny of Hamburg; a brother, Clifford Bowden of Goose Hollow; two sisters, Geneva Clampit and Ruth Ferguson both of Monticello; five grandchildren, Keith Sowell and wife Sarah, Kelly Myers and husband Grant, Taylor Wells, Shanie Wells and Bodie Bowden; a great-grandson, Peyton Myers; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Visitation is August 23 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Stephenson Dearman Funeral Home in Monticello. Funeral services will be held August 24 at 4 p.m. the funeral home. Burial will be at Prairie Grove Cemetery on Prairie Road.
