Charles Thomas Cuthbertson, 60, of Warren, died January 20, 2014.

He was born September 20, 1952 and was the son of the late James and Kathleen Cuthbertson.

Born with Down syndrome and other developmental issues, doctors projected a short life span for Mr. Cutherbertson. However, he died at the age of 60 and was an active person until the last 15 months of his life. Much of his longevity can be credited to the Arkansas Human Development Centers for the outstanding care, training and love he received.

Always a favorite of the staff, he lived at the Conway Human Development Center, Arkadelphia Human Development Center and finally at the Warren Human Development Center.

His parents were tireless workers in developing services for special needs children.

Mr. Cuthbertson loved rock ‘n roll music, especially Jerry Lee Lewis. He enjoyed arranging his army men just so and then knocking them down with a smile, riding in fast cars, and his favorite snacks: cokes and cookies. He could manipulate his brothers for an extra coke and cookie without them realizing it. As a youngster he would rough house with his brothers and as an older man, young children delighted in playing around him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Cuthbertson.

He is survived by two brothers, John and spouse, Gingy; Robert and spouse, Denise of Warren; one sister, Carolyn Sanford and spouse, Chuck Carlin, of Northfield, Minn.; nieces, nephews, cousins and his extended family of the SEARK Human Development Center.

Funeral Services will be held January 22 at 1:30 p.m. at Frazer’s Funeral Home in Warren with Rev. Gary Maskell officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery in Warren.

Active pallbearers are Dr. Joe H. Wharton, Bob Plair, Jack Hankins, Harvey Splawn, Bill Wisener, Kip Kelley, Bill Simpkins, Bob Laster and Carroll Wayne Lathan. Honorary pallbearers were Staff at Southeast Arkansas Human Development Center, Dr. Dichelle George, Dr. Donnie Bryant and Dr. Bob Smalling.

Memorials may be made to Judy Adams, SEARK HDC, Employee Relations Committee, 1 Center Circle, Warren, AR. 71671.
