Christelle “Chris” Jones Ricketts, 80, of Crossett, passed away on February 11, 2021, in Little Rock.
She was born on July 4, 1940, in Jerome, Arkansas, to her parents, Royal S. Jones, Sr. and Chlorene Callaway Jones.
She was a resident of Ashley County for most of her life. She was a 1958 graduate of Crossett High School and a member of West Crossett Missionary Baptist Church.
For several years, after high school, she worked as a proofreader for the Ashley News Observer. She loved to read, sew and quilt. She also enjoyed fishing and the monthly gathering with her brothers to play “Mexican Train”.
She was kind-hearted and outgoing and could make people laugh with little to no effort. She was a loving sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Warren “Pete” E. Ricketts; two brothers, Willie Joe Jones and Leroy Jones; one sister, Florence Bowden; and two stepchildren, William Warren Ricketts and Diane Martin.
She is survived by two daughters, Vickie Ball and husband, Frankie, of Canton, North Carolina, and Tammy Ricketts of Crossett; one brother, R.S. Jones and wife, Beverly, also of Crossett; six grandchildren, Roxanne, Josh, Alicia, Becky, Allen, and James; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, and nephews.
A private service will be held for Chris, officiated by Bro. Harold Cantley.
Pallbearers are Josh Holmes, Justin Hannah, James Purcell, Kenny Bowden, Dennis Jones, David Jones, and Brandon Jones. Honorary pallbearers are Thomas Glen Childers, Larry Cantley, Henry Pat Cantley, Phillip Jones, and Jerry Purcell.
Burial will be at Pinewood Memorial Park under the direction of Medders Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the “Hope at Home” organization.
