Christine Mary Roberts, 71, of Monticello, passed away December 25, 2021 at her home.
She was born and raised in North Carolina to the late Jethro and Ella Locklear.
Christine worked on the farm, as share croppers, until the age of 18, then she moved to California. She worked as a waitress for many years before going to work as a bank teller.
In 1982, Christine moved to Arkansas, working at Burlington Industries for 16 years, before going to work for Commercial Bank in Monticello, where she retired after 17 years. She was a member of Second Baptist Church in Monticello. She enjoyed cooking, baking and woodworking. She always made holiday treats and loved giving gifts to others. She loved to travel, work in the yard, and plant flowers. She always had a caring heart for the elderly.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Jethro and Ella Locklear; husband, Charles “Chuck” Roberts; two sisters, Exand Locklear and Sally “Bit” Blue; and three brothers, Benny, Bobby and Governor Locklear.
Survivors include a son, Bill (Becky) Deeb of Star City; two daughters, Theresa (Jerry) Boyd of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Anne Marie (Knut) Hauer of Dallas, Georgia; three brothers, Louis (Lori Ann) Locklear, Ellis Locklear, and Gerald (Linda) Locklear, all of Raeford, NC; two sisters, Evon L. Usher of Red Springs, NC and Edna Mae Reyes of Raeford, NC; 9 grandchildren, Kaci (Chris) Brown, Lindsay (Jeff) Rawls, Kylie (Hunter) Johnson, Kendall (Michael) Steele, Robert Boyd, Emily Boyd, Ella Hauer, Jürgen Hauer, and Carolena Hauer; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 31, at 11 a.m. at Second Baptist Church in Monticello with Bro. Ray Hearron officiating. Visitation is 10 a.m. until funeral time at the church. Burial will be at Pleasant Springs Cemetery in Drew County.
