Clydine Clanton Jones, 97, of Monticello, passed away on February 2, 2020 at the Woods Nursing and Rehab.
She was born February 13, 1922 at Ingles, Arkansas to the late Virgil A. Clanton and Malissa Measel Clanton.
Mrs. Jones was a Presbyterian, a kindergarten teacher, a school teacher and a music teacher. She worked for Pomeroy and McGowin and retired as secretary to the Registrar at the University of Arkansas at Monticello after 21 years of service. Clydine loved life, her friends, her family, her music and her Lord.
She was the widow of Joseph P. Jones, who was born in South Hill, Virginia in 1917. He was an Air Force veteran and worked as an electrician most of his life and for the Corps of Engineers. He passed away at the Woods in 2009.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one brother, Howell Clanton.
Survivors include one son, Tom Jones, 75 of Monticello; and two nephews, Dan and Duane Clanton and their families.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 5 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home in Monticello.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 6, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery.
