University of Arkansas at Monticello senior baseball player Evan Comeau has been selected to the 2016 College Sports Information Directors Association Academic All-District Team.
Comeau was recently named a first team All-Great American Conference shortstop, and has started 44 games this season.
On the field, he has a .296 batting average with 47 hits, seven doubles, one triple, one home run and 26 runs batted in. He has also set a new UAM single-season record for walks this year with 43 heading into this weekend’s opening round of the GAC tournament. He is also UAM’s career leader in walks with 111.
In the classroom, Comeau has performed at a high level in the area of mathematics, and holds a 3.73 cumulative grade point average not counting the Spring 2016 semester.
The Halifax, Nova Scotia native is a two-time member of the GAC All-Academic Team, a two-time finalist for UAM’s Male Scholar Athlete of the Year award, a member of the Alpha Chi Honor Society and a recipient of the Division 2 Athletic Directors Association Academic Achievement award.
Comeau and the 27th-ranked Weevils are in action this weekend at home against Harding in a best-of-three series against Harding for the opening round of the GAC Championship Tournament. Games are Friday at 3 p.m., Saturday at noon, and Saturday at 3 p.m. (if necessary).
