Conrad Pennington, 84, of Hamburg, died December 9, 2013 at the Ashley County Medical Center in Crossett.
Mr. Pennington was a native and lifelong resident of Hamburg and lived in the Crossroad Community. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He worked as a land surveyor for the past 40 years and was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Free Will Baptist Church. He loved his family, friends and church. He was an avid gardener, hunter and fisherman and he was known for his story telling.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Bobbie Ann Swan Pennington; a son, Michael Pennington; a daughter, Brenda Gail Ricks; his parents, McClellan and Annie Lou Howard Pennington; three brothers, Don, Elton and M.C. Pennington and a sister, Erma Lou Pennington Sharp.
He is survived by a son, Jimmy Pennington and wife, Judy; a brother, Bruce Pennington all of Hamburg; three sisters, Merle Murphy of Hamburg, Macel Rodgers of Crossett and Annette Craig of Hamburg; three grandchildren, Suzanne Ricks of Snyder, Tim Pennington and wife, Emily, of Hoover, Alabama, Kevin Pennington and wife, Andee, of Hamburg; five great-grandchildren, Percy, Payton, Michael, Sadie and MJ Pennington; a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the at the Mt. Pleasant Free Will Baptist Church on December 12 at 10 a.m. with the Revs. Keith Boseman and Bob Whiteley officiating. Burial will be in the Crossroad Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Reagan Craig, Phillip Craig, Mickey Pennington, Ricky Pennington, Kenny Pennington, Mack Pennington, Jeff Pennington, Royce Sharp, Ronnie Rodgers and Gerry Rodgers. Honorary pallbearers are Luther Richardson, John Richardson and Derrall Ricks. Memorials may be made to the Mt. Pleasant Free Will Baptist Church, 266 Ashley 95 Road, Hamburg, AR 71646.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at , Wednesday, at the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home in Hamburg.
