The annual Crossett Christmas Parade and Celebration has been set for December 2. The parade begins at 5:30 p.m., immediately followed by the Christmas Downtown Celebration, featuring live entertainment, a variety of food and deserts, photos with Santa and other activities.

Parade-goers are encouraged to take advantage of holiday specials offered by many of the local merchants, while enjoying the festivities.

The parade route begins at the Cap Gates Arena, moving west on Third Avenue to the traffic light at Third and Main street where it will take a left turn and travel south on Main to the Norman Middle School parking lot.

This year’s theme is “Paint Christmas Pink”, selected by the Ashley County Cares organization after they purchased an auction item entitling the organization the rights to select the theme and parade marshals for the 2011 Christmas festivities.

“It’s a perfect way to infuse the hope of this particular holiday into a cause that has, in some way or another, touched us all,” said Crossett Chamber director Pam Ferguson.
