The Crossett School Board has hired Barbara Wood as the new Crossett School District superintendent, effective July 1. She replaces interim superintendent Tommy Tyler.

Wood, who has nearly 50 years in the public education field in Arkansas, is currently serving as the superintendent for the Waldron School District in Hot Springs and has served as superintendent at the McGehee and Lake Hamilton school districts.

She has a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Arkansas at Monticello, a master’s degree English education from Henderson State University and a doctorate in education from the University of Arkansas.
