To make CT exams as safe and accurate as possible for its patients, Drew Memorial Hospital recently acquired Toshiba America Medical Systems, Inc.’s Prime 80-Slice CT Scanner with Adaptive Iterative Dose Reduction 3D, the company’s newest dose-reduction technology.

“Toshiba’s AIDR 3D software reduces the radiation dose, allowing us to offer safer CT exams for patients, while maintaining the image quality we need for diagnoses,” said David Gossman, director of Radiology at Drew Memorial Hospital. “Combining Toshiba’s software with the new 80-slice Low-dose CT Scanner helps our facility provide the best possible patient care.”

DMH CEO Scott Barrilleaux said new equipment purchases like the CT scanner provides the hospital an opportunity meet even more patients’ needs.

“It can cut doses of radiation by up to 75 percent compared with our previous machine,” Barrilleaux said. “It’s a more efficient machine, and often we can evaluate conditions at earlier stages than ever before. Not to mention, it is an even faster process for our patients. We’re very proud to have this cutting-edge technology in Drew County.”
