Curtis Laron Gober, age 89 of McGehee, formerly of Monticello, passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at his home. He was born May 30, 1924, in Drew County to the late Wade Harvey Gober and Jimmie Price Gober.
Mr. Gober was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, a U.S. Army Veteran of Korean War and also served in the National Guard. He was a retired truck driver, member of the American Legion and VFW and was of the Baptist Faith. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Gober Stevens; two brothers, Wade Gober, Jr. and James Henry Gober; two sisters, Helen Gober Castleman and Ruby Nora Gober; a great-grandson, Jackson Tyler Morris; and special cousins, Earnest Gober, Pete Gober, and Clifford Burks.
Survivors include four daughters, Reggie Gober Evans and husband, Frank of McGehee, Cathy Gober Morris and husband, Leory of Northfork and Patricia and Carol Gober of California; two brothers, Hershel Gober and wife, Mary Lou of Florida and Bill Gober and wife, Marilyn of El Dorado; one sister, Peggy Gober Savage and husband, Charles of Monticello; five grandchildren, Bryan Cruce, Jane Marie Cruce Sirmon, Jack Morris and wife, Misty, Leslee Morris, Ashlee Stevens Brock and husband, William; seven great-grandchildren, Mazee Smith, Alana Brock, Dalton Sirmon, Josh Cruce, Emily Morris, Colton Peacock and Kyle Cooper; and several special nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be November 9 from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Stephenson Dearman Funeral Home in Monticello with funeral services following at 1 p.m. Burial will be at Union Ridge Cemetery on Midway Route in Drew County.
