A. D. Witherington, 94, of Hamburg, died on July 6, 2016 at the CHI St. Vincent Infirmary in North Little Rock.
He was a native of Hampton and a resident of Hamburg for the past 56 years.
Mr. Witherington was a veteran of the United States Navy. He worked for the Georgia-Pacific Corporation Paper Mill for more than 37 years. He was an active member of the Southside Baptist Church, a member of the Submarine Veterans of America and he was a square dancer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Maude Porter Witherington; four brothers, John Hays, Clyde L. and Ralph Witherington and an infant brother.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Steena Warner Witherington of Hamburg; three sons, Phillip Witherington and wife, Maha, of Bryant, Arkansas, Warner Witherington of Lake Charles, Louisiana and David Witherington of Tulsa, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Kanzy, David, Sherwet and Joseph and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on July 8 from 6-8 p.m. at the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home in Hamburg.
Graveside services will be held on July 9 at 10 a.m. at the Egypt Cemetery with Dr. Bobby Pennington and Rev. Frederick Etheridge officiating.
