David Bazzel, co-host of “The Show With No Name” on 103.7 The Buzz and a former linebacker for the Arkansas Razorbacks, will be the keynote speaker at the Star City Chamber of Commerce Banquet on January 16.
Bazzell was a Florida all-state athlete in football, track, and weightlifting before signing with Lou Holtz and the Razorbacks. He was team captain, three year starter, and four year letterman at linebacker under Holtz and Ken Hatfield. He participated in four bowl games including a television MVP performance in the 1984 Liberty Bowl vs. Auburn and Bo Jackson.
Bazzel played on the 1982 Arkansas defense that led the nation in scoring, was the team leader in tackles in 1984 and was defensive captain of the 1985 unit that set an all-time SWC record of allowing no rushing touchdowns during the entire conference season.
The banquet will be held at the Star City Civic Center on January 16 at 6 p.m. Star City’s man, woman, and business of the year will be announced that night. Tickets are available for $25 at the Bank of Star City and Radio Shack.
