Dax Courtney, a tight end at Dewitt, has committed to play football at the University of Arkansas. He made his announcement in a video on Friday.

Courtney, 6-6, 210, had 36 catches for 623 yards and scored seven touchdowns as a sophomore and helped lead the DeWitt Dragons to a 7-5 record last season, its first trip to the state playoffs in 19 years.

Courtney, who still has two years at DeWitt High School before he goes to Fayetteville to play for the Razorbacks, chose Arkansas over offers from Penn State, Purdue, FIU, Vanderbilt, Missouri, Arkansas State, Kansas, Kansas State, Michigan State, UTSA, Tulane, Memphis, TCU, Baylor and North Texas.

Courtney’s father, Mark Courtney, is the head football coach at DeWitt.
