Guachoya Photograpy Contest


Dede Gibson won 1st place in the adult division of the Guachoya Cultural Art Center Amateur Photography Contest. (Her winning photo is pictured above.)

Gibson also received honorable mentions for two other photographs. The second place award went to Randy Russell and third place went to Andrea Allbritton.

In the grades 7-12 division, Mollie Pinion won 1st place, with Emma Arden Farmer receiving both 2nd and 3rd place honors.

Mina Bland won 1st and 2nd place in the K-6 grade division. Third place went to Josie Allbritton.

Honorable mentions went to Debbie Maddux Lenzner, Greg Bland, David Becken, La Berta Russell and Gibson. Lenzer and Gibson both received two honorable mentions.

The awards were presented at a reception at the Guachoya Cultural Art Center in Lake Village on August 7.

A total of 71 photographs made up the photography exhibit, with some by professional photographers.

Next year’s theme will be “Horses”.

“With a whole year to work on it, we expect some great photographs,” said Vera Pesaresi, executive director of Guachoya Cultural Art Center.
