Dee Merris Cowan Lacey, 93, of Monticello, passed away on June 23, 2017 at Belleview Nursing and Rehab in Monticello.
She was born on September 26, 1923 in Drew County to the late Harvey Cowan and Betty Jones Cowan.
Mrs. Lacey was a retired bookkeeper for the Teamsters Union and a private home caregiver. She was a member of Oak Grove Assembly of God Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the father of her children, Olen Funderburg, and her second husband, Britton Lacey; her son, Don Funderburg; a granddaughter, Tonya Avant; two brothers, Reese Cowan and Dalphe Cowan; five sisters, Hazel Crain, Scotty Jolley, Lois Grubbs, Betty Holladay and Mary Francis Moore; and a daughter-in-law, Murlayne Funderburg.
Survivors include one son, Raymond Funderburg of Toney, Alabama; three grandsons, Dirk Funderburg and wife Lauren of Harvest, Alabama; Darin Funderburg and wife Cathy of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; Flint Funderburg and Renee of Atkins; one granddaughter, Samantha Dickey and husband Richard of Monticello; ten great-grandchildren, ten great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 27, at 2 p.m. at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Chapel in Monticello with Rev. John Dowd officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery in Monticello.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 26 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
