Bobby Rush is a widely renowned musician and entertainer with a career spanning 57 years. Rush holds a solid reputation among such celebrated talents as Etta James, Little Richie and The Temptations. He has been nominated for a 2014 Grammy for Best Blues Album of the Year and in 1971, his song “Chicken Heads” was the Record of the Year, beating one of James Brown’s well-known dance hits.
Rush will perform Saturday night at the festival. The concert is free to the public.
The 2-day festival opens Friday at 10 a.m. with crawfish dinners, t-shirt sales, carnival rides, food, arts and craft vendors.
Friday’s entertainment includes the Cummins Band, Lady E. of Pensacola, Fla., Melvin Crockett and Lorenzo Giles.
Saturday activities include a 5K Run, wrestling matches with Pat Tanoka, Jaycus, Venom and the Tenant Kidd, and a car show. Entertainment includes DJ Chris, DJ Stylz and DJ Rod of Dallas, and a free concert featuring Bobby Rush.
