A Desha County man has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the Sunday morning shooting of a Dewitt man. David Michael Dann, 44, is alleged to have fatally shot Corey George during the early morning hours of November 20, four days after George’s 22 birthday.
The shooting reportedly occurred outside Dann’s residence on Neeley Road, east of Dumas. George died Sunday night at UAMS where he was transported after the shooting.
“There was a conflict between these two men,” said 10th Judicial District Prosecutor Thomas Deen. Citing the ongoing investigation, Deen declined to disclose the nature of the alleged conflict between the men.
Dann is being held on a $250,000 bond. Circuit Judge Sam Pope has set a bond reduction hearing for November 29.
First-degree murder is a Class Y felony punishable by a prison sentence of 10 to 40 years or life. Dann, if convicted, faces an additional 15-year sentence for use of a firearm.
