A McGehee woman was killed Wednesday afternoon when her car crossed the centerline of U.S. 278 in Monticello and hit an empty log trailer, according to an Arkansas State Police preliminary accident report.
Nancy White, 69, was traveling on U.S. 278 where, for an undetermined reason, the Kia she was driving crossed the centerline into the oncoming traffic lane and struck the fourth and fifth axles of an empty log trailer pulled by a Mack truck, according to the report.
White died at the scene. The driver of the truck, who was not identified in the report, was not injured.
The crash occurred at 3:05 p.m. The weather was clear and the road was dry.
At least 198 people have been killed on Arkansas roads so far this year, according to preliminary figures.
