A man suspected in the February shooting death of a disabled couple and the attempted murder of three more in Detroit was arrested Tuesday morning in Monticello.
A tip following a Saturday broadcast of the America’s Most Wanted television program led the U.S. Marshal’s Service to Drew County where an agent contacted Sheriff Mark Gober advising him that the suspect, Jonathan Jamal May, was living in Monticello, according to a news release from the Drew County Sheriff’s Office.
At 11 a.m. Tuesday, the Drew County Sheriff’s Department, Monticello Police Department, and U.S. Marshals went to a residence on Bailey Street where May was believed to be living. Shortly afterwards, May was arrested and transported to the Drew County Detention Facility where he was booked on two counts of first degree murder and three counts of attempted murder. May is currently awaiting extradition.
