Donald “Duke” Wayne Rice, 74, of Star City passed away on August 15, 2019 at his home.
He was born on June 1, 1945 in Lincoln County to the late Arthur Eugene Rice and Geneva Ann Harper Rice Ratterree.
Mr. Rice was a member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, a retired welder with Cotton Belt and Southern Pacific Railroad, a 32nd degree Mason with Branchville Lodge #256, where he was the 2004 Worshipful Master and he was a Shriner. He loved flying ultralights and his Cessna 150.
I addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Cameron Mitchell Harrison and a sister, Wanda Burr.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy Shumake Rice of Star City; a son, Brian Harrison of Hot Springs; two daughters, Gwendolyn (Stephen) Foote of Pine Bluff and Kerri (Randy) Robinson of Star City; two brothers, Thomas Edwin Rice and William Eugene (Bennie) Rice, both of Star City; four sisters, Bobbie Jean Lee, Willene (Von) Morris, Mary Ann (Doug) Patrick, all of Star City and Ellene Rice of Rockport, IL; 10 grandchildren, Hayden Harrison, Jacob Harrison, Savannah Morgan, Beau Harrison, Joshua Harrison, Keslor Robinson, Kelson Robinson, JonLuke Harrison, Joellen Clark and Kristin Broadus; and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation is Saturday, August 17 from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Griffin Fune followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Bro. John Marlar and Bro. Jackie Richardson officiating. Burial will be at at Butler/Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
