Doris Eugenia Wright Wider, 82, of Dallas, Texas, passed away on September 8, 2014 at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas. She was born on June 6, 1932 in Crossett.
Mrs. Wider graduated from the Missouri School for the Blind in 1953 and was an accomplished pianist and soloist. In 1978, she released her first recording featuring seven songs she wrote, arranged and sang.
She was among the top 20 winners selected in a statewide Ronald McDonald contest designed to raise funds to benefit cancer victims. She also performed at annual recitals.
Mrs. Wider was preceded in death by her step-father, L.M. Wright; her mother, Mary Margaret May Harris; a brother, Larry Melvin Wright and one sister, Eula Mae Slate.
She is survived by her younger siblings, Margaret Allen of Dallas and and John E. Wright of Effort, Pennsylvania, and a host of nieces, nephews, other loved ones relatives and friends.
A memorial service is planned for September 21, 2014 in Dallas. Arrangements by Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg.
