Doris Hughes Ballard, 90, of Star City passed away on January 4, 2015 at Peachtree Hospice in Fort Smith.
She was a retired businesswoman and a member of First United Methodist Church in Star City where she was a member of United Methodist Women.
Mrs. Ballared was born on February 26, 1924 at Mt. Holly and was the daughter of the late Maxie O. and Zelma Tompkins Hughes.
Also preceding her in death were her husband, Herman Ballard; and a daughter, Judy Ballard King.
Survivors include a son, Ronny (Elizabeth) Ballard of Pine Bluff; two daughters, Linda (Don) Gifford of Russellville and Kathy (David) Reed of Star City; a son-in-law, Michael King of Walla, Mississippi; six grandchildren, Steven (Christy) Ballard, Rhonda (Steve) Light, Brad (Tracey) Gifford, Chad (Stacie) Calhoun, Max (Jami) King and Lauren Holstead; 10 great grandchildren, Mandi Boudreaux, Justin Light, Taylor Light, Logan Ballard, Grayson Gifford, Macklin Gifford, Samantha Calhoun, Caleb Calhoun, Josiah King and Kaylin Holstead; and one great great-grandchild, Ryler Shell.
Funeral services will be held on January 9 at 1 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Star City with Bro. Bryan Diffee officiating. Visitation is January 8 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Griffin Funeral Service in Star City.
A private family burial will precede the service. A reception will follow the service in the Fellowship Hall of First United Methodist Church in Star City.
