Dorothy Brewster Davis, 104, of Monticello, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2022, at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born July 6, 1917, in Warren, to the late Robert A. Brewster and Lonnie Pearl Bradley Brewster.

Dorothy was a homemaker and housewife who enjoyed working on the farm where she raised cattle even having a set of twin calves once. She loved to work in her garden, play cards (especially Skip-Bo) and was an excellent cook, most well known by her family for her pot roast and fried pies. She was the oldest living member of Harmony Freewill Baptist Church in Rye.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle ”Red” Davis whom she married on June 25, 1939; daughters, Ann Willingham and Vicky Smith; sons-in-law, James Britton, Hugh Charles Smith and Robert Willingham; sisters, Opal Hobbs and Rene Holbrooks; and a brother, L.A. ”Buddy” Brewster.

Survivors include her daughter, Sue Davis Britton of Dermott; grandchildren, Anna Smith Jones and husband Rick of Monticello, Davis Hugh Smith of Dermott, Jason S. Britton and wife Elizabeth of Warren, and Amy Britton Smith and husband Brent of Monticello; great-grandchildren, Alan Jones and wife Nadia, Aaron Jones and wife Sarah, Davis Smith, Jr. ”Sonny”, Laken Britton and Levi James Smith; a great-great-grandchild, Sterling Jones; one sister, Reba DeNoble of Reno, Nevada; and her special friends, Pat Staples, Bonnie Cruce and Sheila Gardner.

Funeral service will be held Friday, June 24, at 3 p.m. at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tim Foreman officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery at Rye. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 23, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Davis Smith, Jason S. Britton, Alan Jones, Aaron Jones, Davis Smith, Jr. ”Sonny”, Rick Jones, and Brent Smith.
