Dorothy Jeanell Brown, 87, of Monticello, passed away on September 1, 2015 at Belleview Nursing & Rehabilitation in Monticello.
She was the widow of Virgil L. Brown, a retired employee of Burlington Industries and member of First Assembly of God Church. She was always very active in her church before her health failed.
Mrs. Brown was born on June 28, 1928 in Drew County and was the daughter of the late Lee Johns and Cora Mooney Johns.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Brenda Forrest and Mary Lasiter; and two brothers, Thomas and Billy Johns.
Survivors include two daughters, Tona McKiever and husband Donald of Monticello and Penny Hill, also of Monticello; one son, Louis D. Brown of Little Rock; two brothers, James Johns of Lucedale, Mississippi and Carlis Johns of Monticello; three sisters, Elizabeth Word of Wilmar, Juanita Hartness of Greenbrier and Sudie Golden of Ashdown; three grandchildren, Casey Hill, Channa Hill and Cody Brown; and two great-grandchildren, Jackson Hill and Presley Kate Hill.
Graveside services will be held on September 4 at 10 a.m. at Andrews Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be September 3 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home.
