Dorothy Lee Gartman, 90, of Monticello, went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Friday, December 15, 2017 at Drew Memorial Hospital in Monticello.
She was born October 17, 1927 in Yolanda, Alabama to the late Roy H. Nelson and Kate Lee Otts Nelson. She moved to Sheridan, Arkansas in 1940.
Mrs. Gartman was the widow of James C. Gartman, retired from the business office at the University of Arkansas at Monticello, was a long time member of First Baptist Church in Monticello and Drew Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
She enjoyed playing bridge and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a loving and gracious lady, always wanting everyone around her to be happy. She was a friend to many and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Dan Nelson; and one sister, Virginia Harrington.
Survivors include three daughters, Linda (Leon) Hardy of Tierra Verde, Florida, Debbie Scrivner of Hot Springs and Nancy (John) Funderburg of Monticello; a brother, James Nelson of Houston, Texas; a sister, Carolyn Henson of Sheridan; grandchildren, Gina Reginelli, Angie Herman, Jake Funderburg, Jill Funderburg and one great-grandson, Gino.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 20, at Lost Creek Cemetery in Sheridan.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 19 at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home in Monticello.
