Dorothy Marie Miller Orr, 87, of Crossett, died on August 16, 2015 after a courageous battle with colon and breast cancer.
She worked in the health care field for more than 40 years, retiring in 1990 as a Certified Respiratory Tech for the Crossett Health Center. She was also an office nurse for Drs Reigner and Harville, a ward clerk and nurse’s aide for the Crossett Health Center, and an office manager and nurse for Dr. Ensign in Silsbee, Texas.
She was born on July 3, 1928 in Crossett and was the daughter of the late William Edgar and Annie Belle Miller.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey Orr; five sisters: Vera Stevens, Estelle Smith, Sudie Hughes, Allene Robinson and Ruth Jackson; four brothers, an infant that died at birth, Edward Miller, Carl Miller and John Allen Miller.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Brooks and husband Gary of Shreveport, Louisiana; her son, Mark Orr and wife Shelley of Crossett; two granddaughters, Gina Martinez and husband David of Shreveport, Louisiana and Holley McBroom of Denver, Colorado; one grandson, Lee Orr of Crossett; one great granddaughter, Katherine Martinez and one great grandson, Craig Beilby both of Shreveport, Louisiana, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on August 18, 2015 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on August 19 at 2 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Kevin McDaniel officiating. Burial will follow at Hickory Grove Cemetery in Crossett under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.
Pall bearers are Bobby Miller, James Jackson, Danny Orr, Brad Orr, Galen Jerry and Dan Byrd.
Honorary pall bearers are her trusted friends and lunch buddies, Dot Carpenter, Shirley Cummins, Marlene Oliver, Chris Rachel, Robbie Cannon, Allene Moore, Janice Moffatt, Lila Thurman, Dottie Little, Bettye Barnett, Cheryl Loveless, Monte Ford, Cynthia Sullivan and Maxine Reed.
