Dorothy Ann Phillips, 79, of Monticello passed away March 11, 2014, at Drew Memorial Hospital in Monticello.
She started working for Drew Memorial Hospital in the early 1950s as a CNA and retired in 1994 as a dietician. She later came out of retirement to work 17 years for the Monticello Social Club.
She was born on Oct. 5, 1934, to the late Jasper Phillips and the late Lillie Bell Banks-Phillips in Lacey.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Osman Phillips; a sister, Margaret Hubbard; a son, Melvin Phillips and a granddaughter, Safonda Phillips.
She leaves to cherish her memories, three sons, Michael Phillips of Milwaukee, Wis., Bennett Lee Phillips, and Steve (Jennifer) Phillips, both of Monticello; three daughters, Amanda (George) Matthews and Darlene Veasey-Johnson, both of Monticello, and Maxine White of Kansas City, Kansas; two sisters, Mozelle Jacobs and Alpha Ambrose of Monticello; one daughter-in-law, Brenda Phillips of Monticello, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held March 17 at 11 a.m. at Stephenson Dearman Funeral Home in Monticello. Burial will be at Lacey Cemetery on Lacey New Hope Road in Drew County.
