Dorothy Thornhill, 89, of Monticello, passed away on October 16, 2018 surrounded by her family at home.
She was born on August 26, 1929 at Kelso, and was the daughter of the late Henry Lee Moore, Sr. and Victoria Davis Moore.
Mrs. Thornhill was the widow of Whitt Thornhill, a homemaker and a member of Oak Grove Assembly of God Church. She served as a faithful greeter at Oak Grove for the past ten years, a position she took very seriously.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Henry Lee Moore, Jr., William Moore, Jeff Moore, Billy Moore and Johnny Moore.
Survivors include one daughter, Vickey Haycox and husband Buddy of Monticello; a son, Tommey Thornhill of Monticello; six grandchildren, Sonny Thornhill and wife Desiree, Shane Thornhill, Michael Len Wood, Michael Anthony Haycox and wife Amber, Matt Wood and wife Christina, and Jayme Stallman; great-grandchildren, Lane, Maddie, Wyatt, Bella, Carson and Khloe Wood, Abby Haycox, Lexie Gill, David Tankersley, Gianna, Nicolette, Soelee and Shana Thornhill, Klara and A.J. Stallman; and Dr. Jeff Reinhart, who she thought of as a grandson.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 17 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 18, at 3 p.m. at Oak Grove Assembly of God Church with burial to follow in Union Ridge Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Oak Grove Assembly of God Church building fund.
