A solo exhibition of paintings by Douglas Cason are currently on display through October 16 at the Spencer Gallery of the University of Arkansas at Monticello Fine Arts Center. The exhibition is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Cason’s work focuses on altered subjects of traditional historical narratives, fusing them with new identities to contextualize the point where the line of fact and fiction blur. Originally from Fort Worth, Tex., Cason is currently an art instructor at Blinn College in Brenham, Tex. His work is included in various private and public collections, including the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston.
Cason holds a master of fine arts degree in painting from the University of Houston and a bachelor of fine arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin.
