Dr. Blayne Beene has joined the Mainline Health Systems staff. He will begin seeing patients at the Monticello clinic on August 30.

“As a family medicine physician, it is my goal to provide the best medical care possible for patients of all ages and backgrounds,” Beene said. “I also aim to build relationships with my patients and educate them about their health problems so that they may better participate in the shared decision-making process regarding their health.”

Dr. Beene considered a career in agriculture, one of two career fields he considered, but while doing research on seedling disease in soybeans one summer in Fayetteville he found it boring and decided to pursue the other field: medicine.

“I am glad I did because I enjoy being a physician,” Beene said. “You are always learning, and I enjoy the relationships with patients.”

Beene said the late Dr. Don Ball, a physician at Mainline until his death in 2018, inspired him to pursue the medical field and to practice at Mainline. Beene grew up around Dr. Ball, who had previously practiced in Marianna, and always admired him.

“Dr. Ball always said he wishes he would have worked for Mainline 20 years before he did,” Beene said.

Another factor in choosing Mainline, Beene said, is he has a long-term relationship with a woman from Monticello.

“I wanted to come to a small town to help people,” he said.

Mainline CEO Allan Nichols said he is “super proud” to have Dr. Beene on the Mainline team.

“We have known Dr. Beene for many years; he was a close family friend to Dr. Ball who was Mainline’s clinical director for years,” Nichols said. “He will be able to relate to his patients extremely well and we are super proud to have him on our team.”

Beene received a bachelor’s degree in biology from Ouachita Baptist University and a master’s degree in biomedical science from William Carey University before receiving a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from William Carey College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Mississippi.

Beene enjoys duck hunting, golf, sports and other outdoor activities. He also loves movies and reading.
