Dr. Fredy Cordova, a family practice physician who says he likes to listen and treat his patients with knowledge, experience, and care, has joined Mainline Health Systems staff at the Monticello clinic.
Dr. Cordova, who is bilingual, is trained and licensed in family medicine. He treats acute and chronic conditions, using life style modifications and alternative medicine to treat diabetes, hypertension, obesity, heart and lung disorders, and abdominal and skin problems, as well as other health problems and disorders.
“I like to use preventive medicine and life style modifications to treat the most common conditions, having the experience and success with patients that I’ve seen,” Dr. Cordova said. “I like to treat skin conditions and perform minor skin surgeries, like biopsies to detect skin cancer. I like to resolve and diagnose simple and complicated medical problems. I like to listen and treat the patient with knowledge, experience, and care.”
Dr. Cordova practices medicine at Mainline’s clinic in Monticello, Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. and on Fridays from 8 a.m. until noon.
Dr. Cordova chose to practice in Southeast Arkansas after learning that it was an underserved area.
“I learned about the need of physicians in this area, people that have to drive long distances for care, and communities that are undeserved,” he said. “And I see in Mainline a medical center open to serving everyone and there was an opportunity to reach people that lacked care.”
Dr. Cordova and his wife, Carmen, a nurse who understands and supports his career, live in Monticello. They have three children, one at home and two away at college. When he isn’t working, Cordova enjoys spending time with his family and likes music, playing the piano, nature, camping, rivers and lakes. “We enjoy every time that we can be together,” he said.
