University of Arkansas at Monticello Chancellor Dr. Jack Lassiter will be roasted and toasted on August 3 at a benefit dinner and auction for the Drew County Historical Society.

Lassiter’s friends and colleagues will share funny anecdotes about the university chancellor during a buffet-style dinner at the Monticello Country Club. The event includes a live and silent auction hosted by Desha County Judge Mark McElroy. Viewing of auction items will begin at 6:30 p.m. and dinner will be at 7 p.m.

The fundraiser will benefit the Drew County Historical Society which maintains, with the assistance of Drew County, the historic Cavaness house on South Main Street in Monticello where the Drew County Historical Museum is housed, and the Drew County Archives. The Drew County Historical Society also publishes the Drew County Historical Journal each year and provides historical programs for the county.

Tickets to the event are $40 per person or $75 for a couple. To purchase tickets, contact Drew County Historical Society president Connie Mullis at Mullis Insurance on the Monticello town square or at 870-367-5268 or call Drew County Historical Society treasurer Terri Wolfe at 870-723-2351. Checks may be made payable to the Drew County Historical Society.
