Dr. Jeff Longing, assistant professor of education at the University of Arkansas at Monticello, has been named president-elect and program director for the Arkansas Association of Teacher Educators (ArATE) for 2013-14.
Longing joined the UAM faculty in 2003. He holds a bachelor of science degree in education from UAM, a master of education degree and an educational doctorate from Northeast Louisiana University (now the University of Louisiana-Monroe).
ArATE serves as a state unit of the Association of Teacher Educators (ATE) and works closely with ATE to provide opportunity for individual professional growth for all persons concerned with teacher education in Arkansas. ArATE provides quality programs for teacher education, a forum for ideas and practices related to teacher education, keeps its members informed of new developments in teacher education, and encourages its members to initiate these practices.
