Layne Brotherton, a member of the Drew Central High School Cross Country and Track & Field teams, will sign a National Letter of Intent to run Cross Country and Track at the University of Arkansas at Monticello.
Brotherton’s signing ceremony will be held February 10 at 2:30 p.m. in the Drew Central High School Library Media Center.
Brotherton, the 18-year-old son of Tony and Melanie Brotherton, is a captain on the Drew Central Cross Country and Track & Field teams where he has earned three SEACC All-Conference honors and one 3A All-State honors in cross country. He also received two 3A-8 All-Conference honors and one 3A All-State honors in track.
Brotherton finished 10th overall in the 3A State Cross Country meet this year and 2nd in the 800m at the 3A State Track Meet last year, both earning the All-State credentials.
He says he is looking forward to the opportunity to run under UAM Coach Leonard and further his education at the University of Arkansas at Monticello, where he plans to study Wildlife Biology.
