We recognize that a number of Drew County Citizens are concerned about being exposed to the Covid-19 virus if they personally go to a polling place to vote during early voting or on election day. While every reasonable precaution will be taken to protect voters coming to polling places to vote, we recognize that the risk of being exposed to the Covid-19 virus still exists.
You can vote by absentee ballot if you conclude that your attendance at the polls may be a risk to your health or the health of others due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Governor of Arkansas issued Executive Order No. 20-44 on August 7, 2020, which, among other things, provides: “Qualified electors, who conclude their attendance at the polls may be a risk to their health or the health of others due to the COVID-19 pandemic or otherwise conclude they will be unable to vote in person on the day of the election due to illness or physical disability are therefore unavoidably absent from the polls, and may request and submit an absentee ballot pursuant to Arkansas Code Ann. § 7-5-402.”
If you intend to vote by absentee ballot, you should request an application IMMEDIATELY by calling the Drew County Clerk at 870-460-6260.
