A Drew County man and woman were found dead outside their home on May 25, according to authorities.

Robert Pearson, 88, and Beatrice Pearson, 86, were discovered lying in their garden.

“It appeared that (Mrs. Pearson) had fallen and hit her head on a brick,” a Drew County Sheriff’s report reads. “It also appeared that (Mr. Pearson) went out much later and fell backwards and was unable to get up.”

Although authorities do not believe the deaths were the result of foul play, the bodies were sent to the state Crime Lab.

Mr. Pearson is believed to have died from heat exhaustion, according to Drew County Sheriff Mark Gober.

Mr. and Mrs. Pearson were retired UAM professors. Mr. Pearson taught chemistry and Mrs. Pearson taught art.
