The Drew County Historical Society is inviting the public to its October 14 meeting at Lacey United Methodist Church where the topic of the meeting will be the history of the church and some of the surrounding area. The meeting gets underway at 2:30 p.m.
Mrs. Wayne (Reva Mayo) White, reared in the New Hope area and a long-time resident of the Prairie Chapel community, which is located six miles west of the actual Lacey community, will be one of the presenters. Mrs. Dan (Wilma) McNaughton, a long-time resident of Lacey and member of the church, will be the other. Both of these women have been very involved in the Lacey community, as well as activities in Drew County for many years.
The historical society invites the public to attend the meeting to learn some interesting historical facts and trivia, such as: the courthouse books were moved to Lacey from Monticello for safety during the War Between the States. Lacey is located ten miles south of Monticello on U.S. 425. The Methodist Church is located on the middle Lacey road in sight of the three-way fork.
