A protest at the Drew County Courthouse has resulted in Drew County Judge Robert Akin issuing an order setting the location for any future protests or demonstrations.
The order follows a September 17 protest at the Drew County Courthouse that obstructed the public’s access to the courthouse. Loud and abusive profanity was broadcast and amplified by a megaphone, according to the order outlining actions that led to the order.
“These actions amounted to an attack on the Drew County Courthouse, and caused many County employees and others in the Courthouse to fear for their personal safety, and interrupted their ability to concentrate on doing their jobs for the People of Drew County,” the order reads.
Future protests and demonstrations will be allowed only on the large lawn, east of the Drew County Detention Facility.
