A Lincoln County man may lose a couple of fingers following a Saturday night shooting in Drew County, according to Drew County Sheriff Mark Gober.
Gober said Chris Boothe, 27, of Star City was shot as he attempted to drive away from a Drew County residence shortly before 9 p.m. Saturday.
Jimmy Gibson, 33, of Drew County has been arrested in connection with the shooting and likely faces first-degree battery charges.
Prior to the shooting, a Drew County juvenile reportedly told Gibson that Boothe had been calling and harassing her, according to Gober.
Gibson allegedly drove to her residence and waited until Boothe arrived. When Boothe arrived, Gibson is alleged to have walked over to Boothe’s vehicle, and as Booth started to drive away, fired a shot into the driver’s side window striking Boothe in the hand, Gober said.
Boothe was transported to a Little Hospital then transferred to a Springfield, Mo. hospital where he is being treated for a serious hand wound.
“It is possible that he will lose a couple of fingers on his left hand,” Gober said.
Gibson is being held in the Drew County Detention Center awaiting a first appearance hearing.
