The driver of a 2010 Lexus died after the vehicle struck a tractor Tuesday morning in rural Lincoln County, according to a State Police preliminary report.
Shavie Ward, 28, of Dumas was driving north on U.S. 65, 1.6 miles north of Arkansas 388, behind a northbound John Deer tractor. As the Lexus approached the tractor, the front of the car struck the rear of the tractor causing it to travel off the right side of the highway. The car came to a final rest facing northeast, according to the report.
As a result of the crash, Ward sustained fatal injuries, according to the report.
The accident occurred at 8:21 a.m. The weather was clear and the roadway was dry.
At least 113 people have died as a result of crashes on Arkansas roads so far this year, according to preliminary figures.
