A mystery dinner theater, parade, barbecue cook-off, hoedown, and a street dance are among a number of events scheduled for the 33rd annual Ding Dong Days Festival this weekend. The Dumas festival, which begins Thursday, July 26 and runs through Sunday, July 29, will also include live music provided by Sonny Burgess & The Legendary Pacers, Dolla Short Band, Mondo Boogie, Brown Soul Shoes, Ben Coulter and Betty Timmons.
The festival kicks off Thursday at 10 a.m. with a laying of a wreath ceremony at the grave of Dumas founder W.B. Dumas. The gravesite is located on the Dumas Junior High School campus grounds.
Thursday evening at 7 p.m., the Dumas Area Arts Council will present the murder mystery dinner theater Bullets in the Bathtub. The event will be held at the Dumas Area Arts Center. Tickets are $20 and include dinner.
Friday, July 27
10 a.m – 5 p.m. Desha County Museum open for tours
5 p.m. – BBQ Cookoff contestants set up for Saturday’s contest
5-7 p.m. – Food & Craft Vendors – Downtown Dumas on Court Street.
5-7 p.m. – Barbecue Dinner, Dumas Community Center, Dumas Chamber of Commerce. Carry-outs available from 5 p.m.- 6:30 p.m.
2012 Ding Dong Daddy & Mama announced. Tickets: $10 advance or at door. The emcee will be Desha County Judge Mark McElroy and guest speaker will be Butch Calhoun, Arkansas Agriculture Secretary

6 a.m. – 10 a.m. Merle Peterson Memorial Pancake Breakfast, First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 230 Court St. – $5 Per Person
7 a.m. Ding Dong Daddy 5K Run/Walk. Start/Finish at First United Methodist Church.
10 a.m. Ding Dong Days Parade, downtown Dumas. Lineup begins at 8:45 a.m.
6:30 p.m. Dumas Hoedown Benefit for Desha County Museum, Dumas Community Center. Tickets: Adults $10, 2 for $15; 6-12 $5, under 6, free.
